基础知识

在俄化应用程序之前必须明确

1.你的应用程序是否支持Unicode编码的TrueType字体？
基于Unicode编码的应用程序通常允许在同一个文档中出现多语种混合文本。Unicode是一种涵盖了全球所有语言的双字节编码。单字节编码的应用程序不能使用Unicode字体，这类程序通常不能分辨语言的种类。对它们进项进行俄化必须采用专门的字体，这种字体从128-255位是本地化字符。这种情况下是不可能在一个文档中出现多种语言的混合文本的，只能是2种语言，而且其中一种是英语。

Unicode编码的应用程序：

• Netscape Navigator 4.0 及以上版本
• MS Internet Explorer 3.0 及以上版本
• MS Office 97 及以上版本

单字节编码的应用程序：

• Netscape Navigator 3.0
• Netscape Navigator 2.0
• Eudora mail program

2.应用程序能否将文本自动从一种编码转换成凌一种编码？
这一点在Internet应用程序中非常重要，Internet西里尔编码标准KOI-8和Windows内部编码CP1251是不同的。Netscape Navigator 4.0, Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0及更高版本是有自动转换能力的，大多数其他程序（包括Eudora）没有这种能力。

1.Netscape Navigator 4.0及更高版本

俄语这类浏览器非常容易，它能实现KOI8-R<->CP1251间的自动转换，你无需安装KOI8-R字体和键盘，直接使用Windows NLS CP1251字体和键盘就可以了。

1. 运行Navigator，选择Edit. Preferences. Appearance. Fonts.设置For the Encoding 为 Cyrillic，为For Variable Width Font 选择字体 Times New Roman Cyr 字号 11.为For Fixed Width Font 选择字体Courier New Cyr 字号10.

2. 选择Edit. Preferences. Mail&Groups. Messages，取消选择By default send HTML messages，OK。

2.MS Internet Explorer 3.0及更高版本

MS Internet Explorer 3.x和4.x 需要安装泛欧洲语言包（其中含西里尔支持），5.0及以上版本直接使用便是。

注意：MS Internet Explorer 2.0无法俄化，必须升级。

3.MS Office 97及更高版本

俄化Windows后直接使用。Office本身无需任何设置。

4.Netscape Navigator 3.0

如果你想浏览KOI8-R编码网页或收发俄文电子邮件，那你必须安装KOI8-R字体(Cyrillic Web fonts)和键盘。然后

1. 在Netscape Navigator中选择Options.GeneralPreference.Fonts
2. 设置Encoding为Cyrillic(KOI8-R)
为Proportinal Font 选择字体 ER Bukinist KOI-8(或Arial Relcom) 字号 12。为Fixed Font 选择字体 ER Kurier KOI-8(或ROL-K8/Courier, 但在NT中不能使用) 字号 12
3. 设置 Encoding 为 Cyrillic (means CP1251)
为 Proportional Font 选择字体 ER Bukinist 1251， 为Fixed Font 选择字体 ER Kurier 1251。

设置完毕，但在你使用时还需手工选择使用选项，别指望软件能自动完成。具体如下：
1. 当你浏览KOI8-R编码的网页时，选择Options.DocumentEncoding.Cyrillic(KOI8-R)
2. 当你浏览CP1251编码的网页时，选择Options.DocumentEncoding.Cyrillic(Win1251)

在使用Navigato3.0 Mail and News时，请设置Options.MailAndNewsPreferences.Compose.Allow8bit。

5.Netscape Navigator 2.0

安装Cyrillic Web fonts

1. 在Netscape Navigator中选择Options.GeneralPreference.Fonts
2. 设置 Encoding 为 Latin2(CentralEuropean)
为ProportinalFont 选择字体 ER Bukinist KOI-8，为FixedFont 选择字体ROL-K8/Courier.
3. 设置 Encoding 为  Korean (Navigator 2.0中没有CP 1251这一选项，选朝鲜语可达到目的)
为 ProportinalFont 选择字体 ER Bukinist 1251，为 FixedFont 选择字体 ER Kurier 1251

设置完毕，浏览时
1. 当你浏览KOI8-R编码的网页时，选择Options.DocumentEncoding.Latin2
2. 当你浏览CP1251编码的网页时，选择Options.DocumentEncoding.Korean

6.Eudora Mail Program

安装Cyrillic Web fonts

运行Eudora，在Tools.Options.Fonts & Display中设置Screen Font为ER Kurier KOI-8字号9，设置Print Header&Footer Font 为 ER Kurier KOI-8字号11。这样你就能收发KOI8-R邮件了。
